Meet Rabbi Noah Chertkoff, Congregation Shalom's Senior Rabbi.
A Message from Rabbi Noah (cont'd)
I'm so proud of our congregation for making the commitment to welcome the stranger in our midst, and to welcome a refugee family to Wisconsin. I'm grateful to those who have already begun this process by educating themselves and who are in the midst of planning for our involvement with the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society. Thank you to our Social Action Committee under the leadership of Bill Gartenberg and Steve Rubnitz. They will be collecting household items needed to furnish an apartment. Please consider helping them in their efforts on all of our behalf.

We have an obligation to those who are fleeing great injustices and persecution. It is the same obligation that was either honored or dismissed while our ancestors were washed upon the shores of this great land. May we, the inheritors of a noble tradition of empathy, a history of pain and an eye to a better future, always respond to our obligations.
