This year, Shalom founded the Young at Hearts Senior singles group for congregants over 60 years old. This is a dynamic group of seniors who meet monthly at Shalom to connect and plan events. Below is some information about the purpose and design of this group.
It is very lonely after one goes through a divorce or a death of a loved one. No one should be alone at this stage of our lives, but how do we meet people? We have programs for little children, teenagers, young people, but not for those of us who are at the “golden age”. So….this is a first for Shalom, and only for members of the Temple at this time. It is important for us to enjoy the remainder of our lives so let’s all give it a try. Let’s find fun again.
Men...get out of the house...meet friends to play cards, talk politics and stocks, go to lunch and/or dinner, go for coffee. Enjoy sports with other men instead of disinterested women, or just hang out with others rather than to be alone.
Women...play Mahjong, Bridge, Canasta games, make new friends, have lunch/dinner, go shopping, go to shows, discuss grandchildren...OY, OY, OY!
We will meet at the Temple on Wednesday, once a month at 10:00 a.m. Click here for the current Young At Hearts meeting schedule.
This is our opportunity to make new friends and find happiness again. Let’s give it a try! You may even find romance again. So come for coffee and goodies and a little chatter. Contact Bobbie Mendelsohn for more information and to RSVP for Young at Hearts events.
